Central Bureau of Investigation director Ranjit Sinha is under fire for allegedly attempting to save corporates names in the 2G Spectrum Scam. The CBI chief is also accused of allegedly shunting out Santosh Rastogi, a DIG-rank CBI officer, of the investigation of all 2G spectrum scam matters.
Abhishek Manu Singhvi, who chairs the parliamentary standing committee on law and justice, and is also a Congress party spokesperson, has been involved in a legal fight on behalf of the leading telecom companies to stall the audit of their accounts by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.
The fact that the CBI has chosen to rely on the oral evidence of the accused - while giving a clean chit to Ambani - and ignored the documentary evidence totally suggests that it is either incompetent, partisan or corrupt. Or all three?
It is the greatest tragedy of the nation that the key decision makers, the Prime Minister, Kapil Sibal, P Chidambaram, Pranab Mukerjee whose lofty lectures on Parliamentary democracy being the only way to enact a law, are the ones with little stake in electoral politics.
As for the Prime Minister, his interaction with the media must consist in a projection of the future, not 2G and “haan ji”.
It is because if the Jan Lokpal comes into being Chidambaram’s political career will be over.
